FlightScope Kudu - Custom fitting with technology
We at the Golf Vision pride ourselves on providing our customers with highly trained expert club fitters using the very latest in club fitting technology. Once we have assessed your need we will select a range of equipment that would best suit your game. Phase array technology or what is commonly known as FlightScope assist us in recommending the correct lofts, shafts types, flexes and weights. This is the same technology currently being used by Padraig Harrington.
The shafts flex, type and weights are determined by the measuring club head speed, ball speed, distance carried and swing efficiency (Smash index).
Determining the correct loft requires the understanding of the horizontal launch angle and back spin rate. The horizontal launch angle is the angle which the ball leaves the club face and the back spin rate relates to the ball flight and path and theses two will ultimately controls the distance the ball will fly through the air and the run. The factors that make up the launch angle are the loft of the club, the centre of gravity of the head, the flex of the shaft, the flex point and even the size of the head.
The FlightScope can accurately measure:
- Carry distance
- Ball velocity for the entire launch
- Ball launch speed
- Ball back and side spin
- Maximum height of flight
- 3D Flight path
- Club head speed
- Elevation angle along entire trajectory
- Drag coefficient
- Horizontal launch angle
FlightScope is now being used in a number of leading teaching academies is the USA including Butch Harmon, David Leadbetter, Jim McLean and the USA PGA Learning Centres.
The USGA has purchased FlightScope for their testing facility in New Jersey – replacing their previous technology which was the Bridgestone Camera System and ironically Bridgestone have now purchased and commissioned FlightScope for use at their test facility.
The R & A at St Andrews has successfully commissioned FlightScope and will be using this technology on the tees at all the European PGA Tour events as of the end of June.
